Pathiramanal, a picturesque island in Lake Vembanadu, is positioned to become a bio-park. The project, which is supposed to protect the natural beauty and environmental specialties of the place, was inaugurated by the chief minister of kerala. This project was undertaken by the Kerala tourism initiatives as an eco tourism project. The project will be implemented by agencies operating in the field of land resource management and fisheries management in the state of kerala. You have done great work with your photography of the island. A few photos remind me of the Everglades where I grew up in South Florida.

Just visited the island on Vembanad Lake. It is indeed a mesmerisingly beautiful place with tall palm trees and low foliage of greenery that is truly spiritual in many ways. I greeted several leaves that folded in shyness of meeting my finger. ;) We are truly interconnected to Gaia.

Though it is indeed a biodiverse environment, it was concerning to see so much litter and to hear that the government had purchased it and we're planning to build a hotel complex on it, potentially keeping it 'secure' for tourists alone!

I for one am rather saddened to learn about the Keralan government appearing to advocate a bio park and care for nature and sustainability whilst continuing to be slaves to the US calls for specific rice crops that they will buy, whereby forcing Kerala to use chemical fertilisers. The blatant drift towards making money over protecting nature must end if we hope to have future generations appreciate good health, simple living and developing a giving rather than greedy-for-money and me-me-me kind of culture.
